Dragon*Con - I can’t wait!
personal April 11th, 2008Anyone else getting anxious about Dragon*Con this year? I can’t wait to be immersed in all the geeky goodness. The celebrities, the pseudo-celebrities, the panels, the costumes, the dealer rooms, staying up late playing games, the crowds (yes, even the crowds can be fun), and just generally being a complete geek for three or four days.
For those of you that don’t know, Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US. Dragon*Con 2008 will be held Labor Day weekend (August 29 - September 1, 2008) in Atlanta, GA. Many of us folks from THE UNIQUE GEEK are regulars at this event. you forgot to say MY favorite part…seeing my friends again! while i woul dhave said seeing ALL my friends again, it is uncommon to have all of you guys together in one spot…sometimes we manage it, but this year is a Deckerd-less year…

Yep, I’m skipping this year and probably years to come.
This convention has just gotten too crowded and too much of a headache. It’s just not fun any more.
I honestly never got into the sci-fi convention thing. Megacon in Orlando was a waste of money the one time I went and the times I went to Dragon*Con were really only to be with friends…until I realize that you are not really spending time with friends at this event but more so fighting the crowds and security.
Bring back Guys Weekend!

I’ve always wanted to go since year 1, and I’m going this year. Moved to Atlanta and I’m definitely taking advantage of it being in my backyard. I’m hoping that the art show jury results will be out soon (closes today), as another artist and I have applied for a space.
