A few weeks ago I was on a trip for work and found myself bored in my hotel room.  I needed something to do while I ironed shirts, so I decided to cruise Hulu.com looking for episodes of Burn Notice.  An ad for the television comedy Arrested Development caught my eye.  I’d certainly heard of the show, but had  never made the time to watch it.  I’ve always been a fan of Jason Bateman (It’s Your Move fans REPRESENT!) and the pilot episode of Arrested Development was available on Hulu.com.  I gave it a try.

Holy crap this show is hilarious!  It’s witty, clever, unique, and dense.  Turns out every episode is available on Hulu.com.  I’m at the halfway point in the first season and each episode gets better and better. The description of the show from the Wikipedia entry:

The show is centered around the Bluths, a formerly wealthy, habitually dysfunctional family and is presented in a pseudo-documentary format, incorporating hand-held camera work, narration, archival photos, and historical footage.

The show lasted three seasons.  While it wasn’t a tremendous ratings success, it was very well received by viewers and critics. In fact, there is an Arrested Development theatrical movie in development now.

I realize this show isn’t strictly for geeks, however, it’s clearly written for a smart, attentive audience.  I guess you could describe it as a high-brow sitcom.  I really can’t recommend this show enough.   If you haven’t watched it, give it 22 minutes of your time and watch the pilot by clicking here.  You won’t regret it.
