The Guild – Gamers are Funny People Too

Felicia Day and The Guild

I’m sure I’m the last geek to the party on this one, but I finally got around to watching some of The Guild.  If you’re not familiar with it, The Guild is an independent sitcom web series about a group of online gamers.  It stars Felicia Day, who also created the series and writes it.  Day is best known for her role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as “Vi” and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog as “Penny”.

I’ve watched most of the first season and I find this show to be hilarious!  And I’m not even a gamer!  Below is the first episode, running time about 4 minutes.  You can find the first three seasons on YouTube.  If you can’t view the embedded video below, click here.  For more information on The Guild, click here.

And just for fun, here is their music video, (Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar

… and cue the comment from Ed saying, “I told you so!”

  1. Are you talking to me? Are YOU talk to ME!?
Actually, I’ve never seen this series. I’ve known about it for a while but never bothered.
Some may be surprised to hear me say (even though I am a Buffy, Dr. Horrible, and Whedon fan) that I’m not really a Felicia Day fan. She’s cute and all but I found her character in Buffy to be extremely annoying and her acting pretty bad in everything I’ve seen her in. Even her scenes in Dollhouse were worthy of ridicule in my opinion. She was just okay in Dr. Horrible.
I may give The Guild a try but I can’t guarantee that I will have the same opinion as you.

  2. When I was at Cosmic Cat on Wednesday, I saw issue #1 of Felicia’s comic book The Guild. Ben told me it was a good read … I may have to check it out.

  3. Love the show, love felicia day, love wow, you’ll be suprised how many celebrities actually play the game, out of the 11 mil that play in the U.S. alone, including Mila Kunis <3, and dave chapelle.
