While shopping at Wal-Mart this past weekend, I stumbled across these superhero briefs for men. Yes, these are for adults. They look like overgrown Underoos. While I’m always thrilled to find superhero apparel, these are not something I would wear.

This takes scaring away the ladies and reinforcing stereotypes to a whole new level. And just in case the Star Wars geeks were feeling left out… Nothing says stud quite like Darth Vader on your junk.

Y’know, there is somewhat of a double-standard here. These briefs for guys are pretty embarrassing. However, superhero briefs for girls are pretty darn sexy. As the following picture proves…

Yeah, those work much better on the ladies. Sorry boys!

TeeFury is a place where you will find amazing tees at amazing prices (and occasionally other non-tee things). It’s pretty simple – one new super limited-edition tee every 24 hours for $9.

Each tee goes up for sale everyday at midnight eastern time. Once it sells out, or after 24 hours, whichever comes first, that tee is gone. And when we say, “gone”, we mean G-O-N-E – never to be sold again at TeeFury.

I’ve owned a few comic book related watches over the years. Most have moved on to the great temporal graveyard in the sky, however, I’ve hung on to a couple worth sharing.

Below is a Fossil watch from 1989 featuring a fantastic drawing of the Joker. I’m fairly confident the artist was Kyle Baker. I don’t recall much about obtaining the watch, but I’ve read online that it was apparently limited to 500 pieces. It was an awesome watch that I wore for many years. After cracking and replacing the crystal a few times and noticing how banged up the gold had become, I finally retired this watch.

Below is a gorgeous Starman watch released in 1997. The imagery matches the back of Jack Knight’s jacket in the Starman comic series. I absolutely loved this watch! The crystal on this watch is beveled and is unfortunately very susceptible to damage. I replaced a cracked crystal on this watch once, only to crack it again soon after. I may consider repairing this watch so I can wear it again.

Below is the watch I currently wear. It’s a knock-off I picked up on eBay, but it’s been great. Very reliable, fits well, and displays the Superman S-Shield in a subdued manner so I can wear this watch to business meetings.

That’s all the comic related watches still in my possession. Do you have a favorite comic related watch?

Yesterday I posted several items I received for my birthday, including a TARDIS Cookie Jar. Today I’ll be covering the awesome geek-related t-shirts I received!

This first shirt came from my four year old daughter, the Precocious Princess. She knows her daddy loves Star Wars so she picked out this shirt for me! I love that this shirt features artwork from the Marvel Star Wars comic book series! I’m a big fan of those comics, so this t-shirt is extra special! I’m pretty sure all the artwork on this shirt was done by Al Williamson during his tenure on the series.

Next up is a Green Lantern symbol t-shirt from my brother, Lore (the irredeemable brother)! With all the geek t-shirts I own, it’s surprising that I’ve never owned a Green Lantern symbol shirt before! This totally rocks! The picture came out fairly dark, but the shirt itself is a rich green color. Thanks, Lore!

This final t-shirt isn’t exactly geeky, but it sure is funny! My ten year old step-son, the Rambunctious Rascal, picked this out for me. Too funny!

That wraps up the coverage of my fantastic birthday! Thanks again to everyone that helped make this birthday special!

If you’ve been reading ONCE UPON A GEEK for awhile, then you know I love me some geeky apparel. In preparation for Dragon*Con this year, I acquired a couple new geeky t-shirts to wear with pride at the event. Check out these awesome new shirts!

I absolutely love these designs! I tend to gravitate towards the more obscure stuff. I got lots of compliments from people at Dragon*Con, especially on the Abe Froman shirt!

Both shirts came from the folks at MyTeeSpot.com. They were kind enough to send me a couple shirts to review. Now typically, ordering t-shirts online is a sketchy business. You never really know the quality of the product until it arrives. I’m pleased to say the shirts from MyTeeSpot.com are exactly what you’d hope for. The shirts are good quality and the sizes fit like they should. I hate t-shirts that are paper-thin or the sizes are wonky and a Medium wears like a dress. Not the case with these shirts. Additionally, the colors are vivid and the designs are printed heavy enough that they shouldn’t fade too quickly.

MyTeeSpot.com has an insanely large catalog of geeky t-shirts to choose from. If you like superheroes, they have over 400 superhero t-shirts to choose from! If you like movie-related shirts (like my Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Abe Froman shirt), they have over 400 movie-related t-shirts to choose from as well! Yes, I said over 400 in each category! It told you, their selection is insane! Beyond those two categories, they have t-shirts related to cartoons, video games, music, celebrities, and other pop culture. They also offers free shipping on orders over $50.

I highly recommend MyTeeSpot.com. They’ve got the variety and quality you’re looking for from a geek t-shirt. Check them out today!

My thanks to the folks at MyTeeSpot.com for sending me these shirts to review.
