Presenting another very special blog entry by The Rambunctious Rascal! Rascal is my nine year old step son. You may have heard his Kid Who or Kid Trek episodes here on ONCE UPON A GEEK. If so, you know he’s got an interesting perspective on the world of geekdom. Here’s the deal, he dictates and I type. All the words are his own. Without further ado, I give you The Rambunctious Rascal…

Why do heroes become heroes and villains become villains?

Heroes choose to be heroes because they think they have the responsibility or they have to. Because like the X-Men, Xavier thinks that he should make all the Mutants good and they should make humans feel safer around Mutants so they do not capture them and kill them. Jeepers that would hurt.

And villains become villains because they have very good power and they think they could rule the world with their amazing power that they have. And they think they can rob banks whenever they want. And then soon some hero in tights would come in and beat their butts. And the villains would come back from the dead like always. Like Juggernaut or Mysterio.

Y’know what? What if all the heroes had battle with all the villains? Maybe that should happen because if villains were supposed to rule the Earth, then they would win. If the heroes were supposed to rule the Earth, then they would win. If no one was supposed to rule the Earth, then they would all just die.

So I think you get my point. So join me next time on The Rambunctious Rascal’s Blog.

PS: Better than Shag’s.

We’ve got a special treat today… I’m pleased to present today’s ONCE UPON A GEEK Special Correspondent, my nine year old step-son, The Rambunctious Rascal! Just a little background for you, my step-son is not actually named “Rascal” but we’ll be calling him that for blogging purposes. He expressed an interest in writing a blog post for y’all. You may have heard his Kid Who or Kid Trek episodes here on ONCE UPON A GEEK. If so, you know he’s got an interesting perspective on the world of geekdom. Today he takes his first step into the wide world of writing; he dictated and I typed. Without further ado, I give you The Rambunctious Rascal…

Aquaman

Okay what’s the deal with Superman? Well he’s supposed to live forever, but c’mon people, let Aquaman have a chance. I know that he has two bad powers, but Peter David could make him have more powers, like something good. Like heat vision. See-through-walls. Claws. Or just a gun.

See if Superman had Aquaman powers, then he would be canceled more than Doctor Fate.

Speaking of comics. What if Aquaman fought Superman? And Aquaman could summon some sharks and get them to bite Superman while he chokes him with Kryptonite in his mouth.

So I think you get my point. So thanks for wasting your valuable time.

This past weekend I took my step-son to see “Star Trek” the movie. Even though it was rated PG-13, I knew he’d be able to handle the movie after seeing it myself a week before. Not only did he handle it well, HE LOVED THE MOVIE! It made this geek proud to see my boy cheering for Kirk and company.

You can play this “Kid Trek” edition right here on the ONCE UPON A GEEK site with the handy-dandy player below! Running time 4 minutes and 33 seconds.

Welcome to the first installment of KID TREK, a new infrequent segment here at ONCE UPON A GEEK! “Kid Trek” will be very similar to our “Kid Who” segments. “Kid Trek” will feature reviews of classic or recent Star Trek adventures from the perspective of a child. These short audio interviews are between me and my nine-year old step-son.

He’s beginning to take an interest in Star Trek, which does his step-dad proud. What spurred us to watch “Space Seed” and “The Wrath of Khan” was my step-son’s purchase of the Star Trek mini-mate figures below – Khan and Kirk from the TOS episode “Space Seed”. He didn’t know who the characters were, but he thought they looked cool. After answering several questions for him, I suggested we watch the Khan stories.

This time we decided to discuss the recent episode, “The Doctor’s Daughter“. You can now play the audio file right here on the Once Upon a Geek site with the handy-dandy player below! Thanks to Ed for showing me this utility.

Welcome to the first installment of KID WHO, a new infrequent segment here at Once Upon a Geek! “Kid Who” features reviews of Doctor Who episodes from the perspective of a child. These short audio interviews are between myself and my eight-year old step-son. He has become more and more a fan of Doctor Who and we decided to record some of his thoughts on various episodes.

Please bear with us as we do these segments. He’s still getting used to being recorded, and I’m still trying to figure out the best way to interview an eight-year old.

The first installment is his review of the classic Tom Baker episode, “The Sontaran Experiment“. I thought this would be a good classic episode for him to watch, especially after he’d seen the updated Sontarans recently in the current series. Finally, this episode was only two parts, so it didn’t drag on too much.

Link to download Kid Who below:

We hope you enjoy! Even if you don’t, we had fun doing it!
