For whatever reason, the 1980′s song “Tenderness” by General Public has been stuck in my head for two weeks. While at Dragon*Con I would randomly burst into a chorus of, “Ohhhh, Tenderness”, which was immediately followed by Chocotaco’s call-back, “Where is it?!?!” Chocotaco was kind enough to post the original MTV video to my Facebook. [...]

Dragon*Con, my home away from home. I believe this was my 10th appearance at this convention and it was definitely one of the better ones! Attended lots of panels, hung out with my friends, met some celebrities, drank far too much, took over 600 photos, and generally had a great time. Sometime in the near [...]

Assuming all went well with air travel, I’ve been in Atlanta since yesterday evening!!! Me and 40,000 of my closest friends all weekend long! DragonCon is the largest multi-media and popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, pop art, designer toys, literature, art, music, and film in the US. It’s the [...]

I like talking about Doctor Who! Yes I do! In fact, I was fortunate enough to guest-star on two fantastic podcasts discussing Doctor Who recently! Two True Freaks and Better in the Dark both invited me to discuss my favorite show recently and coincidentally both podcasts were released this week! Here are the details on [...]

My good buddy Ed started a really interesting discussion topic over on THE UNIQUE GEEK listserv – Who are your favorite Doctor Who companions? I’ve put together my list broken into three categories: current series, classic series, and expanded universe. As a frame of reference, click here for a list of all companions on Doctor [...]

About a year and a half ago I posted a Doctor Who fan-made anime trailer that was a work-in-progress. Well, they finished it and it’s gorgeous! I’m not much of a fan of anime, but this video is full of awesome. You should watch it. If you can’t view the embedded video above, please click [...]

You may have noticed the countdown timer in the upper-right hand corner of ONCE UPON A GEEK. This is counting down my arrival at Dragon*Con 2010! We’re about 28 days away and it can’t get here soon enough! Over on THE UNIQUE GEEK, they’re doing their own version of a countdown called 40 Days Of [...]

Awesome light painting featuring a Dalek! Also, check out this freakin’ amazing light painting video below. Nothing to do with Daleks, but still really cool! If you can’t view the embedded video above, please click here. Thanks to my buddy Adam for sending me both of these!

I was watching the movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action with my ten-year-old step-son when this scene blew both our minds. Crazy!!! We totally weren’t expecting that! This movie was made in 2003, during the Doctor Who “wilderness years”. Meaning this film was released between 1989 and 2005, when the Doctor Who series wasn’t being [...]
