A Very Happy Fourth of July

I don’t know about you, but I had a fantastic Fourth of July!  It was a very family-oriented holiday this year.  It felt like a day drafted by Normal Rockwell.

We started the day by sleeping in a bit (well, the kids let us sleep until 8:30am), swam/played in pool with the kids, grilled hamburgers for lunch, grilled hot dogs and veggies for an early dinner, then went to a neighborhood festival to watch the fireworks.  Before the fireworks started, we ate snowcones and threw a football around.  Afterwards we came home and set off our own fireworks in the driveway.

What a great holiday.  I only wish all holidays could be that relaxing.  And to the handful of British readers that visit my blog… we may have won our independence, but you’ve got me addicted to your sci-fi programs.  Curse you!  🙂

  1. Did the boy show you how to throw a football? I am so proud of you…and to think, those days of College Football on whatever game system we had has progressed to you actually handeling a football and propelling it through the air. In no time you’ll understand why they don’t go for an onsides kick every time…Seriously bro, sounds like a fantastic time and i love to hear about it.

  2. Idyllic! We had a similar fourth: sprinklers in the back yard, hot dogs, nap, then cookout at my son’s godparents’ house. Of course, comics were on the menu!
