Star Trek New Movie – Lots of Pics from the Second Trailer

We interrupt your usual ONCE UPON A GEEK reading for an important announcement…  The new Star Trek movie trailer is now available for viewing online at the official website, www.startrekmovie.com.  I’ve taken a number of screen captures from the trailer and posted them below so you can get a better look at some of the cool things in the trailer.  For more pictures from the new Star Trek movie, please click here.

This movie looks simply amazing!  If the movie itself is half as good as this trailer, than I think they truly have a chance at breathing new life into this franchise.

Here is a shot of the new Enterprise.  Or the original Enterprise, depending on how you look at it.  This didn’t come from the second trailer, but is still awesome!

The Enterprise

Here is the young adventurous James T. Kirk.

The beautiful Uhura (Zoe Saldana) on the bridge of the Enterprise.  Notice the funky ear piece!  There is a much more interesting photo of her I could have posted from the trailer, but decency prevented me from doing it.

Sulu (John Cho) on an away mission.

Three Starfleet personnel sky diving towards a planet.  My guess is that it’s Kirk, Spock and Sulu.

A monstrous creature in a snow storm.  The scene continues to show the creature opening it’s enormously large mouth and moving towards the person in the foreground.

The following two images show the new Enterprise transporter effect.  Pretty snazzy!

  1. Unlike you, I have very little interest in this movie. I’m so tired of seeing endless remakes and I think they could have done something new and exciting, rather than remaking something that was great the first time around.

I just want to see something new from movies and it seems we’re degenerating into an era of hackneyed remakes and novel ripoffs.

  2. Will they not be satisfied until all traces of continuity with the original series are eradicated? Romulans, for crying out loud?

  3. How many “future” policemen do you think will be at DragonCon next year?

I’m not sure this would be classified as a remake since it happens before Kirk and Spock know each other.

Granted the Romulan angle is a little off but the rest of it seems to be ok, considering it hasn’t been covered before.

It may be interesting to see younger versions of the established characters. Remember that episode with Picard when he got the knife through his chest. That added a lot to the character.

We’ll just have to see how it plays out. If it bombs completely, well…. they may take a break from TOS for a while and move on to other parts of the universe of Trek.

  4. I desperately hope that this film is going to be brilliant, and I disagree ith Stuart Renton, trek fans like myself have been waiting so long for something new and fresh, that is set in our favourite universe and here it is!

If it doesnt succeed, you can kiss Star Trek goodbye.
