Secret Invasion: Requiem

Sorry if this is a spoiler for you, but the Wasp is dead.  I’m really bummed about this.  My thanks to Marvel for publishing “Secret Invasion: Requiem” to celebrate Janet Van Dyne’s life.

Its just a shame that such a cool character is gone.  In case you missed her death, I’ve reprinted the relevant pages below.

There you go.  The Wasp’s death in “Secret Wars” (1984).  … ummm, excuse me? … What?!?! … What do you mean she died in “Secret Invasion” (2008)?  She died in “Secret Wars!  You can clearly see that above.  … She got better?  And died again in “Secret Invasion”? … You’ve got to be kidding me … okay.  whatever.  I guess I won’t be too upset then.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice…

We here at ONCE UPON A GEEK wish you a speedy resurrection, Janet!

  1. Don’t worry, this is comics! No one stays dead forever… not even Bucky. Janet’ll be as right as rain in no time and it’ll be as though this never happened 🙂

  2. Haha! That’s awesome! I’d almost completely forgotten about that scene in Secret Wars.

Didn’t she also shack up with Magneto? Secret Wars is fun times.

  3. I asked Ant-Man how he’s holding up after The Wasp’s death. He said it still stings. Haw!

Ah, Secret Wars! Colossus knew how to play the field. From illegal minor Kitty Pryde to grey-haired Zsaji, age is no concern to Colossus! Perhaps is should be… Colossus won’t be let near Red Skull’s daughter!

Kudos to Johnny Storm who knew how to play the equality card correctly. From a blind girl to an old woman, at least his girlfriends weren’t jailbait. Though he stole Alicia away from The Thing and Zsaji away from Colossus. But it wasn’t the real Alicia, it was a Skrull. Swell guy! And isn’t it better to steal your friend’s girl (Johnny!) than to cheat on your own girl (Colossus!)?

When the Red Skull gazes into the chasm of spurious morality, the chasm of spurious morality reciprocates. Absalom, Absalom!

  4. The Wasp died in Secret Wars. Proty-as-the-Wasp died in Secret Invasion.

Was there even a body though? Answer: No.

No body… Who you kidding Marvel?
