“V” Remake – First Video Footage

Long time readers of ONCE UPON A GEEK may remember that I’m a big fan of the 1980s phenom “V” (click here for other “V” related posts).  On Tuesday ABC released two clips from their upcoming “V” reimagining.

ABC’s remake of the 1980s miniseries “V” currently has been ordered for 13 episodes.  However it could consist of four seasons planned in advance, each with 13-22 episodes, according to ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson. The two clips below star Scott Wolf (Party of Five) and Morena Baccarin (Firefly). Wolf plays a journalist while Baccarin plays the alien leader.  Sadly their names are not Mike Donovan and Diana.

Looks pretty good!  However, will it be good enough to generate a spin-off as totally awesome as this?

My thanks to Ed for posting these videos over at THE UNIQUE GEEK listserv.

  1. She’s good and creepy! I’m not sure a V remake is necessary (what’s wrong with the original?) but I’ll keep an open mind.

  2. At the rate sci-fi concepts of the 80s are being remade, I guess we can expect a big budget Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared Syn sometime soon?

  3. I think this looks pretty darn awesome! I’m not exactly the biggest fan of the “remake” but V seems to have a special spot in my heart for some strange reason. Besides the fact they seem to have found an acceptable replacement for Jane Badler in this version. Rowr! I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for the remake of Misfits of Science?

  4. “Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared Syn”! LOL! What a flashback!

And “Misfits of Science” is one of my all time favs! Seriously! It’s so cheesy, it’s brilliant!

  5. I forgot to say how bad the V remake looks. Will it be on ABC? It’s free, so, I MIGHT watch it! I mean, it’d be nice to have cable for a reason other than having an internet connection.

That red dust better not be cremation ashes from the Red Skull family crypt, otherwise they’ll be no ‘pretenama’ for the earth people!

Okay, I like the new ‘V”s point of view and take on the corruption of the media, but it looks insanely dumbed down. I’ll let the kids watch it – guess it’s better than ‘V – The Series’. What was wrong with the original mini-series? I mean, Michael Ironsides! Can you get better than that? He’s a legit star powerhouse! He’s in Terminator Salvation, a movie I hear is on the Academy Awards short list!

  6. I TOTALLY buy this new actress as a “new version based HEAVILY on Diana” I WILL watch it 🙂
