My Lazy Halloween Costume

I went to a family-friendly party the night before Halloween.  We knew the majority of families through my ten year old step-son’s Cub Scout troop.  I didn’t have a costume prepared, so I cobbled together something from around the house.  Here is the result: Lord Vader getting ready for night-night

I’m holding a security blanket (a Star Wars blanket) and a stuffed animal (a Clone Trooper beanie-baby).  While those were nice touches, I really think the fuzzy pink slippers are what sell it.

Maybe it’s just a parent thing, but the whole “night-night” concept is a frequent topic of discussion.  Regardless, my fellow suburbia parents (norms, muggles, mundanes, or whatever you want to call them) didn’t really get my sense of humor.

  1. Just in case you were wondering…..Those are not his pink slippers. We had a lot of fun.

  2. Wow. That photo is freakier than what your verbal description painted. I hope I never have to see Darth Vader’s leg hair again.

Part of me says lose the cape, because sure Lord Vader needs his mask on at all times to breathe, but he’s not going to wear a cape over his pj’s.

I thought you might have used the term ‘bathrobe’, which might have been different (definitely don’t wear a cape over a bathrobe!), but you, sir, are wearing a nightshirt.

In which case, a night cap (ala Sleepy Bear of Sleepy Bear Motel) might be nice, though impossible to find in a size that would fit over your helmet. Probably impossible. Is it impossible?

    (Luke: That’s IMPOSSIBLE!!)

    The Red Skull thought so.

Do you carry around a blanket when walking in your nightshirt?

Bathrobe and nondescript towel seem a better choice for nocturnal ambulations.

The Red Skull knows where his towel is. Do you?

P.S. The Red Skull is happy to give others a hard time (schadenfreude!), but wore no costume himself. What. Red Skull needs a costume? A crimson stained skull that talks ain’t scary enough for you?? Huh. Sith Lord don’t shiv. Sith Lord nasty.

P.P.S. Red Skull delights that you still have your Star Wars poll up and that ‘Attack of the Clones’ is lowest rated of the movies, below ‘The Phantom Menace’, even! As it should be, as it should be.

P.P.P.S Red Skull wants a peppermint milkshake. Red Skull says ‘please?’
