{"id":135,"date":"2008-08-20T07:00:38","date_gmt":"2008-08-20T11:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/?p=135"},"modified":"2009-07-27T21:34:18","modified_gmt":"2009-07-28T01:34:18","slug":"comic-book-t-shirt-gallery-the-dc-shirts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/wordpress\/2008\/08\/20\/comic-book-t-shirt-gallery-the-dc-shirts\/","title":{"rendered":"Comic Book T-shirt Gallery &#8211; The DC Shirts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a title=\"Yesterday's T-shirt post\" href=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/2008\/08\/18\/comic-book-t-shirt-gallery\/\">On Monday I featured quite a few comic book related t-shirts from my closet<\/a>.\u00a0 Today I&#8217;m finishing up the tour of my wardrobe by showing off my DC comics shirts.\u00a0 Please feel free to share any of your favorite t-shirts you own either by commenting or via e-mail!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes1.JPG\" alt=\"Superman Ringer Shirt\" width=\"417\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A great Superman t-shirt given to me by my family a couple years ago.\u00a0 I really like that the &#8220;S&#8221; symbol is large.\u00a0 I strongly believe the &#8220;S&#8221; on a Superman shirt should stretch across the entire chest horizontally.\u00a0 Additionally, I like the &#8220;ringer&#8221; look of this shirt.\u00a0 A &#8220;ringer&#8221; t-shirt typically features the jersey shirt fabric in one color, but the ribbing used for the collar and the sleeve bands are of a contrasting color.\u00a0 I wear this one a lot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes2.jpg\" alt=\"Superman Classic Shirt\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A fun classic Superman style shirt I picked up in the 1990&#8217;s. I love the squinty 1940&#8217;s Superman!\u00a0 The primary image above is the back of the shirt with the insert being the front left hand side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes3.JPG\" alt=\"This Looks Like a Job for Superman\" width=\"500\" height=\"478\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A present from my friend Ed back in the 1990&#8217;s.\u00a0 This shirt came in a cool telephone booth shaped box.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes4.JPG\" alt=\"Superman pre-stressed shirt\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Another gift from the family.\u00a0 Obviously this one was pre-stressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes5.JPG\" alt=\"Daily Planet Staff shirt\" width=\"500\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This was a clever idea for a shirt.\u00a0 The primary image above is the back of the shirt, with the insert being the front left hand side.\u00a0 I liked the idea of having a Daily Planet staff shirt.\u00a0 The fading on the word &#8220;Staff&#8221; happened after one wash.\u00a0 I was kind of bummed, but it sort of makes it look cooler.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_death1.JPG\" alt=\"Death T-shirt\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Okay, what comic book reader in the 1990&#8217;s didn&#8217;t have a crush on Death?\u00a0 I&#8217;m not talking Thanos-style, but the Death character from the Sandman comic.\u00a0 She was absolutely adorable.\u00a0 This 1993 shirt was the first Death shirt and was drawn by Chris Bachalo.\u00a0 It&#8217;s still my favorite Death shirt.\u00a0 The fading\/stress on this shirt is genuine; I wore it a lot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_death2.JPG\" alt=\"Death T-shirt\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here is another Death shirt.\u00a0 I believe this one was done by Chris Bachalo also.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_death3.JPG\" alt=\"Death T-shirt\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A great Death shirt from 1995 featuring a line from her first appearance.\u00a0 You can clearly see the Bjork influence on the artwork at the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_flash1.JPG\" alt=\"Flash Barry Allen t-shirt\" width=\"324\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I got this Barry Allen Flash t-shirt from Target just a few months ago.\u00a0 This was a pre-stressed item that looked so classic I had to get it.\u00a0 Interestingly enough, if Target had waited just a few more months this wouldn&#8217;t have been &#8220;classic&#8221;, it would have been &#8220;current&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_flash2.JPG\" alt=\"Flash Jay Garrick Shirt\" width=\"367\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I got this shirt in the 1990&#8217;s specifically because I thought it was awesome they made a Jay Garrick Flash t-shirt.\u00a0 Additionally, this is the only comic book t-shirt I own that&#8217;s long sleeve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_firestorm.JPG\" alt=\"Firestorm shirt\" width=\"380\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A very thoughtful present from my friend Ed.\u00a0 DC has never produced a t-shirt that just focuses on Firestorm, so Ed made me one!\u00a0 The image is taken from a cover during Firestorm&#8217;s elemental period.\u00a0 You can see the fading on this shirt is pretty severe.\u00a0 I wore the heck out of it back in the mid-1990s.\u00a0 Once it started fading, it became a frequent nightshirt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_aqua1.JPG\" alt=\"Aquaman classic style shirt\" width=\"434\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Another present from a friend.\u00a0 This one was a gift a couple years ago from my old college roommate, Serv.\u00a0 You can see the image is a classic version of Aquaman; early 1970&#8217;s Super Friends era.\u00a0 I really like the &#8220;ringer&#8221; look on this one along with the pre-faded image.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_aqua2.JPG\" alt=\"Aquaman 1970s style shirt\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Another great classic Aquaman image; this time from the late-1970&#8217;s\/early 1980&#8217;s.\u00a0 The image has a little bit of pre-faded effect which suits it well.\u00a0 This particular shirt was also given to me by Serv last year.\u00a0 So do you think by giving me all these Aquaman shirts that Serv is trying to tell me he&#8217;s gay for me?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_aqua3.JPG\" alt=\"Aquaman WB Store shirt\" width=\"254\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A white pocket t-shirt from the WB store with an embroidered Aquaman swimming out of the pocket.\u00a0 I got this in the mid-1990s.\u00a0 Fun!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_jla1.jpg\" alt=\"JLA WB Store Shirt\" width=\"409\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_jla2.JPG\" alt=\"JLA WB Store Shirt\" width=\"385\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Not truly a T-SHIRT, but still a comic book related SHIRT.\u00a0 This embroidered denim shirt came from the WB store in the mid-1990s and is all kinds of awesome.\u00a0 The top image is obviously the front, with the bottom image being the back.\u00a0 Interesting observation, Aquaman and Green Lantern look all buddy-buddy here.\u00a0 However, did Green Lantern freak out when Aquaman was killed (like he did when Martian Manhunter was killed)?\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not even sure Hal has realized that Arthur kicked the bucket.\u00a0 Well&#8230; Hal will know for sure soon enough.\u00a0 C&#8217;mon &#8220;Blackest Night&#8221;!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_batman.JPG\" alt=\"Batman origin shirt\" width=\"428\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is a really fun take on superhero t-shirts.\u00a0 This shirt presents the one-page origin of Batman from the earliest days of Detective Comics.\u00a0 If I remember correctly, I got this shirt in a record shop in Atlanta in the mid-1990s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes6.JPG\" alt=\"Superman Silk Robe\" width=\"287\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/shirt_supes7.JPG\" alt=\"Superman Silk Robe\" width=\"275\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is another unusual item (and I know, not a t-shirt).\u00a0 It&#8217;s a silk robe featuring the Superman &#8220;S&#8221; symbol.\u00a0 If you look closely, you can see small versions of the symbol all over the fabric.\u00a0 Then there is the obvious red &#8220;S&#8221; symbol on the front pocket and backside.\u00a0 The robe is really pretty to look at, but somehow a silk robe just doesn&#8217;t scream manly to me.\u00a0 Especially Super-manly.\u00a0 Needless to say I haven&#8217;t worn it much.\u00a0 But on my wife it looks hot!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align:
