\"\"Instead of blogging about<\/em> comics, this weekend I actually read<\/em> some!\u00a0 I’ve literally got stacks and stacks of comics I’m behind on reading.\u00a0 All together I flew through 44 comics this weekend.\u00a0 I really enjoyed immersing myself in the comic book world.<\/p>\n

Here are the titles I read and some quick thoughts on them:<\/p>\n

Infinite Crisis<\/em> (7 issues) – re-read hoping to find redeeming qualities… and I did!<\/p>\n

Outsiders<\/em> (6 issues) – Writer Peter Tomasi is sooooo good!\u00a0 I never would have guessed who was under the Owlman mask.\u00a0 What an interesting pick, especially for us DC old school fans.<\/p>\n

Teen Titans<\/em> (4 issues) – Sad to see writer Sean McKeever off the main story, but I’m digging these Ravager co-features.<\/p>\n

New Mutants<\/em> (2 issues) – I’m so happy this book is back!\u00a0 Three issues in and it’s still great!<\/p>\n

Avengers<\/em>-related books (8 issues) – I can’t get enough Dark Reign!\u00a0 Seriously!\u00a0 Read: New Avengers<\/em>, Dark Avengers<\/em>, Mighty Avengers<\/em>, Avengers: Initiative<\/em>, Ms. Marvel<\/em>, Dark X-Men<\/em> mini-series, and Utopia crossover with Uncanny X-Men<\/em>.\u00a0 Every month these immediately go to the top of the pile.\u00a0 Considering I’m typically a DC guy, that says a lot.\u00a0 If you’ve never read Ms. Marvel<\/em>, drop what you are doing right now and go find the trade paperbacks.\u00a0 It’s a really enjoyable and solid superhero comic every month.\u00a0 The writer Brian Reed had done an outstanding job with this book, and the art is always good.<\/p>\n

Last Days of Animal Man<\/em> (2 issues) – Buddy Baker and writer Gerry Conway = formula for awesome!\u00a0 Really enjoying this stand-alone mini-series.\u00a0 Cool idea for a Green Lantern, by the way.<\/p>\n

Justice League<\/em>-related books (6 issues) – Not bad.\u00a0 The main book had some good Firestorm moments.\u00a0 It’s really in a holding pattern until Robinson\/Bagley take over.\u00a0 The first issue of the Cry for Justice<\/em> mini-series was interesting.\u00a0 I liked the Congo Bill stuff and the text piece at the back.\u00a0 Read: Justice League of America<\/em>, Faces of Evil: Prometheus<\/em>, and Justice League: Cry for Justice<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Justice Society<\/em>-related books (9 issues) – Writer Geoff John’s last issue was great!\u00a0 Really pulled at the heartstrings.\u00a0 Sad to see Johns leave, but optimistic about the new writers Willingham & Sturges.\u00a0 While I enjoyed Willingham & Sturges’ Shadowpact<\/em>, it really wasn’t mainstream.\u00a0 Hope they can pull off mainstream for JSA.\u00a0 Read all three issues of Power Girl<\/em> – Decent story with great art, but this book really wants to be what Ms. Marvel<\/em> already is.<\/p>\n
