Dude, I’m totally jazzed!\u00a0 It’s just been announced that DC Direct will be producing a Blue Devil<\/a><\/strong> action figure!\u00a0 That’s right, because I demanded it!\u00a0 Yup, just me.\u00a0 I can’t imagine anyone else besides me has been clamoring for this.\u00a0 Blue Devil just so happens to be one of my top five favorite superheroes of all time.<\/p>\n

\"Blue<\/a><\/p>\n

The figure is part of the new “History of the DC Universe” line from DC Direct.\u00a0 These Series One figures are due in stores on June 10, 2009.\u00a0 … … Seriously, dude … … June 2009?\u00a0 You’re killing me!\u00a0 I can’t wait that long.\u00a0 I guess I’ll just have to play with my Justice League Unlimited Blue Devil figure until then.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

I’m not entirely sure that I love the face on this prototype figure.\u00a0 My hope is that the final figure’s face will look slightly more like the comic character.\u00a0 I love that the figure is patterned on his classic costume.\u00a0 While his Shadowpact garb is pretty tough looking, I prefer Blue Devil’s original blue & gold suit.\u00a0 Just for fun, here are a couple classic covers from the Blue Devil comic books series.\u00a0 Sooner or later, I’m going to write a few posts here about the wonder that is Blue Devil and why he deserves to be one of\u00a0my top five favorite superheroes of all time.<\/p>\n

Blue Devil’s first appearance is below.\u00a0 I’m a sucker for this comic.\u00a0 Typically when\u00a0I stumble across this comic\u00a0in a quarter\/fifty cent bin, I end up buying it.\u00a0 Even though I know I’ve got a handful of copies of this comic already.\u00a0 It’s a sickness.<\/p>\n

Here is Blue Devil #6.\u00a0\u00a0Around this time it was established that\u00a0Blue Devil had become\u00a0a weirdness magnet. Lots of fun hijinks came out of that\u00a0plot thread.\u00a0 I’ve always loved\u00a0Blue Devil’s\u00a0facial expression and clean lines on\u00a0this cover.\u00a0 Just a really nice piece.<\/p>\n
