{"id":2730,"date":"2010-02-09T07:00:24","date_gmt":"2010-02-09T12:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/?p=2730"},"modified":"2010-02-08T13:13:20","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T18:13:20","slug":"neil-gaiman-to-write-doctor-who-episode","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/wordpress\/2010\/02\/09\/neil-gaiman-to-write-doctor-who-episode\/","title":{"rendered":"Neil Gaiman to write Doctor Who episode"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Neil Gaiman to write Doctor Who episode\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/neilgaiman.jpg\" alt=\"Neil Gaiman to write Doctor Who episode\" width=\"202\" height=\"222\" \/>Neil Gaiman has confirmed that he will be writing an episode of Doctor Who to air in 2011!\u00a0 In an exclusive message to <a title=\"SFX Magazine Neil Gaiman interview\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sfx.co.uk\/page\/sfx?entry=exclusive_neil_gaiman_confirms_doctor\">SFX Magazine<\/a> he revealed that he is writing an episode for the second season of Matt Smith.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I am totally jazzed about this!\u00a0 While I haven&#8217;t read much of Gaiman&#8217;s stuff since <em>Sandman<\/em>, there is no denying that he&#8217;s an amazing writer! His work on <em>Sandman <\/em>kept me reading comics in 1989 when I considered dropping everything.\u00a0 I started with <em>Sandman <\/em>#8, Death&#8217;s debut story, and stayed with it all the way to the end.\u00a0 Given his ability to tell really emotional tales, he could possibly give <em>Blink <\/em>and <em>Caves of Androzani<\/em> a run for their money as the <a title=\"Doctor Who fans name best episode ever\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2009\/09\/17\/best_who_ever\/\">best Doctor Who episode ever<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here is what he told SFX Magazine:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"text-align: justify;\"><p>As anyone who\u2019s read my blog knows, I\u2019m a big fan of a certain  long-running British SF TV series. One that started watching &#8212; from  behind the sofa &#8212; when I was three. And while I know it\u2019s cruel to make  you wait for things, in about 14 months from now, which is to say, NOT  in the upcoming season but early in the one after that, it\u2019s quite  possible that I might have written an episode. And if I had, it would  originally have been called \u201cThe House of Nothing\u201d. But it definitely  isn\u2019t called that any more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Countdown. You\u2019ve got about 14 months.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Watch this space in 14 months for the, &#8220;OMG!
