Shag\u2019s Sanctum Sanctorum)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\">I love me some JLA &amp; JSA.\u00a0 In fact, I&#8217;ve been building a DC Direct\u00a0action figure collection of these two teams for years.\u00a0 After seeing my buddy Michael Bailey (<a title=\"Views from the Longbox\" href=\"http:\/\/fortressofbaileytude.com\/viewsfromthelongbox\/\">Views from the Longbox<\/a> &amp; <a title=\"Fortress of Baileytude\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fortressofbaileytude.com\/\">Fortress of Baileytude<\/a>) post some pics of his figures, I thought I would take you on a tour of some of mine.\u00a0 This is by no means all my figures, just some that I have on display.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">So follow me weary reader through the door into the back room of the house.\u00a0 You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension &#8211; a dimension of plastic, a dimension of multiple points of articulation, a dimension of facial expressions that\u00a0look as if the character is\u00a0constipated. You&#8217;re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You&#8217;ve just crossed over into &#8230; Shag&#8217;s\u00a0Comicatorium (also known as Shag&#8217;s Sanctum Sanctorum).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0THE JUSTICE LEAGUE\u00a0OF AMERICA (multiple eras)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/toys_jla.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"JLA Figures\" width=\"524\" height=\"467\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Notice the <a title=\"Classic JLA\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justice_league#Silver_and_Bronze_Age_.2F_Justice_League_of_America\">classic JLA<\/a> is on the top shelf, followed by the <a title=\"satellite era JLA\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justice_league#Satellite_years\">satellite-era League<\/a> on the second shelf, and finally the <a title=\"JLI era\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justice_League_International\">JLI\u00a0era<\/a> on the third shelf.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m that geeky.\u00a0 Also, I hung my cool satellite-era League plate behind the second shelf.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA (classic era)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/toys_jsa.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"JSA Figures\" width=\"524\" height=\"384\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Notice Johnny Thunder and Mr. Terrific are tiny. These are from the PVC JSA set that came out a number of years ago.\u00a0 They have not yet made full size action figures of these two characters, so I leave those PVC figures in.\u00a0 Also, in-between the shelves I hung my cool <a title=\"Mike Parobeck\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mike_Parobeck\">Mike Parobeck<\/a> &#8220;<a title=\"JSA - Mike Parobeck era\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justice_Society_of_America#Justice_Society_of_America_.28volumes_1_.26_2.29\">Justice Society of America<\/a>&#8221; mini-poster promoting the series that only lasted 10 issues.\u00a0 Also in the long shot below, you can see beneath the JSA figures is a framed original drawing of <a title=\"Alan Scott\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alan_Scott\">Alan Scott Green Lantern<\/a> by his creator <a title=\"Marty Nodell\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martin_Nodell\">Marty Nodell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/toys_room.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Comicatorium\" width=\"524\" height=\"269\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">In this long shot, you can see how the Comicatorium is laid out.\u00a0 From left to right:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The amazing 5 1\/2 foot <a title=\"Crisis Poster\" href=\"http:\/\/vu.morrissey-solo.com\/moz\/perez\/info\/crisisposterb.htm\" class=\"broken_link\">Crisis on Infinite Earths poster by George Perez and Alex Ross<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The JLA figures above.<\/li>\n<li>A great <a title=\"Superman\/Batman\" href=\"http:\/\/www.demolitioncomics.com\/itempics\/12889.jpg\">Superman\/Batman poster by Ed McGuiness<\/a> that has been mounted on foamcore.\u00a0 My wife&#8217;s office used it for a superhero-themed function.\u00a0 After it was over, they kindly gave it to me.<\/li>\n<li>A bookcase filled with geek stuff.\u00a0 Including Star Wars action figures of <a title=\"Grand Admiral Thrawn\" href=\"http:\/\/us.st11.yimg.com\/us.st.yimg.com\/I\/theearthtoys_1996_23067380\" class=\"broken_link\">Grand Admiral Thrawn<\/a> and <a title=\"Mara Jade\" href=\"http:\/\/us.st11.yimg.com\/us.st.yimg.com\/I\/theearthtoys_1998_5157817\" class=\"broken_link\">Mara Jade<\/a>; <a title=\"Dcotor Fate\" href=\"http:\/\/www.figurerealm.com\/actionfigure.php?FID=15550&amp;figure=drfate\">Super Powers Doctor Fate<\/a>; <a title=\"Kang\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bigislandtoys.com\/images\/17558.jpg\" class=\"broken_link\">Secret Wars Kang<\/a>; a model of a 1960&#8217;s movie Dalek; a Jack Knight Starman variant figure; a Hawkman Heroclix signed by Geoff Johns; and a hand-made figure of one of my own characters sculpted\u00a0by my friend Ron.<\/li>\n<li>The JSA figures above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\">If you are wondering, the term Comicatorium was first coined by Serv and I when we lived together in college.\u00a0 It was used to describe the dining room that had become the dumping ground for all comic-related items.\u00a0 That was a great room.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">So as you can see above, I&#8217;m pretty much a &#8230; well &#8230; a real freak.
