The past couple days we’ve featured some DC Comics posters<\/a>. Well, today we\u2019ll tackle some Star Wars<\/em> posters!\u00a0 I’ve owned many more Star Wars<\/em> posters than just these over the years, but the following are still in my possession.\u00a0 Tomorrow we’ll finish up our poster coverage with some other films, some Marvel comics, television, and other geeky posters. Please feel free to share any of your favorite posters in the comments!<\/p>\n

The image on this first poster was done by Boris Vallejo and has been reproduced a number of times.\u00a0 This poster states “Collector’s Edition”, but I honestly have no idea what they are referring to.\u00a0 Perhaps the poster itself, perhaps a re-release of the film, who knows.\u00a0 Regardless, it’s a pretty sweet looking poster!<\/p>\n

\"Empire<\/p>\n

The next four are movie theater one-sheets.\u00a0 A one-sheet is a type of poster sent by a film company for theaters to use in advertising.\u00a0 They are typically larger than regular posters and are two sided. The front has the image you are promoting, the flip side has the same image reversed so it looks good when lit from behind in a theater poster case.\u00a0 The images used below for Star Wars<\/em>, Empire Strikes Back<\/em>, and Return of the Jedi<\/em> are not actually my own photos.\u00a0 I had to use somebody else’s photos because my one-sheets are framed and the glass is too reflective for photography.<\/p>\n

Here is the one-sheet for Star Wars – Special Edition<\/em> in 1997.\u00a0 I was working for AMC Theatres at the time and was totally thrilled to have the Star Wars<\/em> films playing in my theatre.\u00a0 Regardless of how I felt about some of the changes, seeing Star Wars<\/em> on the big screen again was AMAZING!<\/p>\n

Next up is The Empire Strikes Back – Special Edition<\/em> one-sheet.\u00a0 Interesting to note is that the poster lists February 21, 1997 as the release date.\u00a0 That was the original plan, however, the Star Wars – Special Edition<\/em> was selling so well at the box office they delayed the release of The Empire Strikes Back – Special Edition<\/em> until the following week, February 28, 1997.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned above, I couldn’t use photos of my own one-sheets for this post because of the reflection off the frames.\u00a0 So the poster below doesn’t exactly match mine.\u00a0 My Return of the Jedi – Special Edition <\/em>one-sheet lists a release date of March 7, 1997.\u00a0 Similar to the release of Empire<\/em>, Return of the Jedi – Special Edition<\/em> was delayed a week so it actually came out on March 14, 1997.<\/p>\n

Next up is a teaser one-sheet promoting Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace<\/em>.\u00a0 There were several teaser one-sheets promoting this film, but this is my favorite.\u00a0 If you haven’t noticed already, check out Anakin’s shadow on the wall.<\/p>\n

The next five mini-posters were made available after purchasing a LucasArts video game called Star Wars: Force Commander<\/em>.\u00a0 I thought they were fun propaganda posters so I ordered them.\u00a0 I liked the AT-AT poster so much I cut off the bottom and hung it on my wall for many years.<\/p>\n

The next two posters are Photomosaics by Robert Silvers.\u00a0 The image itself is made up of tons of tiny little images.\u00a0 When you step back far enough, you can see one image created from all the others.\u00a0 Click each image to enlarge.<\/p>\n
