The whole world saw the future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The question on everybody&#8217;s lips was, &#8220;What did you see?&#8221;\u00a0 I&#8217;ll tell you what I saw&#8230; I saw an awesome television series!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>FlashForward: The Complete Series<\/strong><\/em> was released on DVD just over a week ago.\u00a0 I missed it when it originally aired on ABC, but I&#8217;d heard good things.\u00a0 It was one of those shows I always imagined watching in re-runs and getting caught up.\u00a0 Well, life gets in the way and I never got around to watching it.\u00a0 I&#8217;m really glad I tried it on DVD.\u00a0 What a great show!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"FlashForward The Complete Series on DVD\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/flashforward1.jpg\" alt=\"FlashForward The Complete Series on DVD\" width=\"600\" height=\"783\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">THE PREMISE<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The pilot episode starts off with a mysterious flash that causes everyone in the world to lose consciousness for two minutes and seventeen seconds.\u00a0 Each person sees a glimpse of his or her life six months into the future.\u00a0 For some the future appears to be joyous and hopeful; for others, shockingly unexpected; and for a few, it simply doesn\u2019t seem to exist. Knowing their fate alters each person\u2019s life in one way or another and poses the question: can destiny be changed? During the black-out, the world kept moving.\u00a0 Many of the unconscious people driving cars or flying planes didn&#8217;t survive the black-out.\u00a0 Something like 20 million people were killed worldwide during the mysterious event.\u00a0 Everyone is left wondering if the black-out was an act of nature, something man\u2010made gone wrong, or something even more sinister.\u00a0 Several of the main characters are part of an elite FBI unit trying to solve the mystery before it&#8217;s too late.\u00a0 The biggest concern on everyone&#8217;s mind&#8230; will it happen again?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"FlashForward starring Joseph Fiennes and John Cho\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/flashforward2.jpg\" alt=\"FlashForward starring Joseph Fiennes and John Cho\" \/><\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">THE CAST<\/h2>\n<p>The series follows a number of people from different backgrounds: FBI  agents, surgeons, physicists, a recovering alcoholic, a college student,  a cancer patient, a lawyer, and more.\u00a0 As the viewer, you can&#8217;t help  but get wrapped up in what each person saw in their FlashForward and how  it all fits together.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Joseph Fiennes (<em>Shakespeare in Love<\/em>) as FBI Agent Mark Benford<\/li>\n<li>Sonya Walger (<em>Lost<\/em>) as Dr. Olivia Benford<\/li>\n<li>John Cho (<em>Star Trek<\/em>) as FBI Agent Demetri Noh<\/li>\n<li>Jack Davenport (<em>Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em>) as Lloyd Simcoe<\/li>\n<li>Christine Woods as FBI Agent Janis Hawk<\/li>\n<li>Dominic Monaghan (<em>Lost<\/em>) as Dr. Simon Campos<\/li>\n<li>Courtney B. Vance (<em>Law &amp; Order: Criminal Intent<\/em>) as FBI Chief Stanford Wedeck<\/li>\n<li>Zachary Knighton as Dr. Bryce Varley<\/li>\n<li>Peyton List (<em>Mad Men<\/em>) as Nicole Kirby<\/li>\n<li>Br\u00edan F. O&#8217;Byrne as Aaron Stark<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"FlashForward starring Zachary Knighton and Sonya Walger\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/flashforward3.jpg\" alt=\"FlashForward starring Zachary Knighton and Sonya Walger\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">SHAG&#8217;S THOUGHTFUL SPOT<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My wife and I don&#8217;t watch a lot of TV together.\u00a0 She likes a few shows and I like a few shows; rarely do our interests intersect.\u00a0 For whatever reason, she agreed to try <em>FlashForward <\/em>with me.\u00a0 We put the kids to bed and sat down to watch the pilot episode.\u00a0 We both agreed we&#8217;d watch a single episode and then turn in for the evening.\u00a0 Yeah, that didn&#8217;t turn out like we expected.\u00a0 The first episode absolutely grabbed us and wouldn&#8217;t let us go!\u00a0 We watched the first four episodes back-to-back in one sitting.\u00a0 The only reason we stopped that evening was because it was 1 a.m. and we had work the next morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What a compelling show!\u00a0 It&#8217;s got action, mystery, romance, a little science fiction, and amazing cliffhangers!\u00a0 The show is full of twists and turns.\u00a0 Several times I thought I knew what direction the show was going.\u00a0 Boy was I mistaken!\u00a0 I discovered that the only thing you can be sure of is that whatever you believe is wrong.\u00a0 The show continually throws surprises at the viewer and makes you really think.\u00a0 The cliffhangers often reveal game-changing facts about the characters.\u00a0 There were some characters I was sure we were supposed to dislike as viewers, but by the end I was feeling sympathetic towards them.\u00a0 Meanwhile the reverse was true as well; some likable characters turn out to be nasty pieces of work.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">SPECIAL FEATURES<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The DVD contains over 100 minutes of special features.\u00a0 While the special features on this collection are good, I wouldn&#8217;t rate them as outstanding.\u00a0 They are definitely worth watching, but I think the value in buying this collection comes from the episodes themselves, rather than the special features.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Architects of Destiny <\/strong>\u2013 A 20 minute behind\u2010the\u2010scenes feature following the filming of the pilot episode through the season premiere and production of the entire first season, taking an in-depth look at each of the characters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Blooper Reel<\/strong> \u2010 A three minute reel, highlighting some scenes that didn\u2019t quite go as planned<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Deleted Scenes<\/strong> &#8211; 10 deleted scenes<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Meet Y\u00fb<\/strong><strong>ko<\/strong> \u2010 In this six minute feature, one of Japan\u2019s biggest stars Y\u00fbko Takeuchi travels from Tokyo to LA to play Keiko, the love interest Zach sees in his FlashForward. Y\u00fbko gets a taste of Hollywood with a tour of the Walt Disney Studios where <em>FlashForward<\/em> is filmed and her first meeting with the series\u2019 cast and crew.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>FlashForward on Set<\/em><\/strong> \u2010 An 18 minute inside look on set of <em>FlashForward <\/em>with the cast and crew.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tempting Fate \u2010 An Inside Look At The Blue Hand Club<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Day In The Park \u2010 On location at MacArthur Park<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When Nature Calls \u2010 Courtney Vance\u2019s Bathroom Scene<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Crash Forward \u2010 Car Chase from Course Correction<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Emergency Operations \u2010 Make\u2010up and Special Effects at the hospital<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Kangaroo?<\/strong> \u2010 What\u2019s up with the Kangaroo? Find out in this two minute humorous piece.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Interviews from the Mosaic Collective<\/strong> &#8211; Seven minutes worth of interviews<strong> <\/strong>from people in Tokyo, London, England, Cocoa Beach, and Los Angeles.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Creating a Catastrophe: The Effects of a Global Blackout <\/strong>\u2013 A 20 minute feature that goes behind\u2010the\u2010scenes of the pilot, to discover what went in to creating <em>FlashForward\u2019s<\/em> most iconic scene, the freeway disaster. Includes interviews with David S. Goyer and his on\u2010set production team how destruction is developed and explosions are executed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Audio Commentary<\/strong> \u2013 Actor, Dominic Monaghan and Executive Producer, Jessika Borsiczky comment on the two-part \u201cRevelation Zero\u201d episode that kicked off the second part of the series. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"FlashForward starring Dominic Monaghan and Jack Davenport\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/flashforward4.jpg\" alt=\"FlashForward starring Dominic Monaghan and Jack Davenport\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">FINAL THOUGHTS<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was a great show!\u00a0 I highly recommend this DVD collection to anyone that likes suspenseful television. The fascinating premise, game-changing cliffhangers, and cool action scenes make this well worth picking up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some people out there weren&#8217;t wowed by this show like I was.\u00a0 To them I suggest that perhaps this series is better viewed all together in a DVD collection, as opposed to watching one episode per week.\u00a0 This show came out during the final season of <em>Lost<\/em>.\u00a0 There is no denying that ABC was hoping to attract <em>Lost <\/em>viewers with the mysterious premise and suspenseful drama of <em>FlashForward<\/em>.\u00a0 While there are some similarities to <em>Lost<\/em>, this show most definitely stands on its own two feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The series makes you think about your own future. Where will I be in six  months? What if I could see my future? Whether I&#8217;m alive or dead?\u00a0 Can  you really change your future by altering one thing? We all like to think we  could change our future.
