{"id":481,"date":"2009-02-17T07:00:48","date_gmt":"2009-02-17T12:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/?p=481"},"modified":"2009-02-16T19:06:50","modified_gmt":"2009-02-17T00:06:50","slug":"mountain-dew-the-lifeblood-of-geeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/wordpress\/2009\/02\/17\/mountain-dew-the-lifeblood-of-geeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain Dew&#8230; the lifeblood of geeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;m a Mountain Dew addict.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a geek, then it&#8217;s quite possible that you are too.\u00a0 It just tastes so friggin&#8217; good.\u00a0 And the mega-jolt of caffeine is perfect for those late night gaming sessions, web surfing, comic book reading &#8230; or really just about anything.\u00a0 I tried swearing off the stuff for a while, but I failed miserably.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the things I like about Mountain Dew is that they understand their consumers.\u00a0 Mountain Dew has embraced the geek community for years and supports projects that we are interested in.\u00a0 For example, back in 1999 Pepsi did a series of special cans in conjunction with the release of <em>Star Wars: Episode I<\/em>.\u00a0 You may not have liked that particular movie, but to be fair none of us really knew what to expect before it came out.\u00a0 1999 was one of the years I tried to quit Mountain Dew, but the Star Wars cans brought me back to this sweet, sweet nectar.\u00a0 After all, who wouldn&#8217;t want to drink Mountain Dew out of a Darth Maul can.\u00a0 Awesome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Pepsi Star Wars Episode I cans\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/mountaindew_pepsi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"399\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then in 2007 there was a Mountain Dew bot in the movie <em>Transformers<\/em>.\u00a0 Again, you may not have liked the film, but Mountain Dew was making an effort to work within our geek culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Mountain Dew Transformers Bot\" src=\"http:\/\/onceuponageek.com\/images\/mountaindew_transformers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While geeks represent just one segment of Mountain Dew consumers, we are an important part.\u00a0 We&#8217;re fairly loyal and we drink massive quantities. Personally, I think roleplaying companies (tabletop and video game) should try and work out sponsorship arrangements with Mountain Dew.\u00a0 It would be a win-win for everyone involved.\u00a0 Anybody remember the old <a title=\"Dead Alewives Dungeons and Dragons skit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vChEPj0dXXk\" target=\"_blank\">Dead Alewives &#8220;Dungeons and Dragons&#8221;
