Faces that Made Norman Rockwell Famous

Continuing my passion for Norman Rockwell… Here is a great interview about the models that Norman Rockwell used.  It’s from Growing Bolder.com.  My thanks to Katy Widrick for pointing out this interview.

Norman Rockwell “Taxes”

Posted by Shag on April 15th, 2008

Normal RockwellIn honor of tax day here in the United States, I thought I would post one of my favorite Norman Rockwell images.  It’s called “Taxes”, sometimes called “Income Taxes” or “Beating the Deadline”.  It was featured on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on March 17, 1945.

I’m a big Norman Rockwell geek, so you may see more Rockwell images in the future on my blog.

One of the interesting things about this image is the calendar. It’s hard to read at this resolution, but it’s actually the calendar for March, not April.  Turns out that from 1918 - 1955, tax day was actually March 15.  It wasn’t until 1955 that it was moved to April.

Now you know… and knowing is half the battle!  Yo Bean-Counter Joe!
