Kid Who: Doctor’s Daughter

Doctor's DaughterHere is another installment of KID WHO!  “Kid Who” features reviews of Doctor Who episodes from the perspective of a child.  These short audio interviews are between myself and my eight-year old step-son.  Please bear with us as we do these segments.  He’s still getting used to being recorded, and I’m still trying to figure out the best way to interview an eight-year old.

This time we decided to discuss the recent episode, “The Doctor’s Daughter“.  You can now play the audio file right here on the Once Upon a Geek site with the handy-dandy player below!  Thanks to Ed for showing me this utility.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

  1. As I commented on my blog recently, “Has anyone else noticed that more seems to happen in the pre-credit sequence of your average relaunch episode than would occur in first three episodes of your standard four-part Classic Who series?”

  2. Steven – Thanks for the comment! Welcome to another Cosmic Cat alumni! Love your comment. I’m not sure I agree completely, but I still get what you are saying. I would definitely feel comfortable saying that the pre-credit sequences absolutely have more meat on the bone than the old series Episode 3. It always seemed that episode 3 in any story was just filler.

What’s your blog URL? Don’t pass up a chance to pimp your work!

  3. I’ve been watching Classic Who from the beginning as best I’m able, and I’m always amazed at when — say — the Doctor or one of the companions goes on vacation for a couple episodes. (“Celestial Toymaker” was the most egregious: “Haha, Doctor! For the second and third parts I have rendered you mute, and I will only show your hands… which I’ve replaced with a stand-in’s!”)

Anyway, the blog’s at http://waitingforgo.livejournal.com. Much of it is friend-locked, so don’t be surprised if it’s not too interesting. But the more general-interest junk is public… and if you want to be added as a friend and have an LJ account, ’tis trivial to do. (Even then, most of my random thoughts appear in “Random Thought Table,” my weekly column for Pyramid (online) Magazine. But at least then I get paid to subject others to my insanity…)

  4. My favorite was in “The Mind Robber” when Frazer Hines got sick and they had a stand in to play Jamie. However, they did it brilliantly with the mixed up face puzzle. Seriously brilliant way to make it work.

I’ll be sure to check out your blog and your Pyramid column!
