Most Unexpected Doctor Who Cameo I’ve Ever Seen

Doctor Who logo

I was watching the movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action with my ten-year-old step-son when this scene blew both our minds.

Crazy!!!  We totally weren’t expecting that!  This movie was made in 2003, during the Doctor Who “wilderness years”.  Meaning this film was released between 1989 and 2005, when the Doctor Who series wasn’t being produced.

It was a very pleasant surprise!

    Funny you should mention this.
Ironically, Devon and Chelby were watching this last week and made me aware of the Dalek scene. Watching it I was cracking up and saying, “COOL!!”, at the same time. And, of course, saying, “AWESOME!”, when the other retro space villains (Robby the Robot, etc.) were shown.

Ah, I’m so behind on this series! I’m still working on the first season of Who! lol

Let’s see, besides the Daleks we’ve got the Metaluna Mutant (This Island Earth), The Man From Planet X, Ro-Man (Robot Monster), a Triffid stand-in (Day Of The Triffids), a Fiend Without A Face, and Robbie The Robot (Forbidden Planet, initially). I want to say all of those films, along with the theatrical Doctor Who movies, were all produced or at least distributed by Warner Brothers, so it at least makes sense that those monsters would pop up in a Warner Brothers comedy! (As those Daleks look like movie Daleks with the smoke gun.)

Bugs popping popcorn in the Man From Planet X’s suit cracked me up. Awesome.

    Okay, yeah, I’m totally wrong.

Fiend Without A Face and Forbidden Planet were MGM. This Island Earth was Universal (and I should have known that since I love MST3K The Movie). Robot Monster and The Man From Planet X were both independant. Day Of The Triffids was Allied.

Amazingly enough, only Dr. Who & The Daleks/Dalek Invasion Earth had anything to do with Warners, who handled the video distribution rights in several countries.
