Are Aliens Real? First Contact about to be Admitted?
Are aliens from another planet real? Could evidence of first contact be just around the corner?
Two stories caught my interest last week. The first story was about seven U.S. Air Force personnel admitting that UFOs are real. The second story was about a newly discovered planet that may be able to support life. After hearing both stories, a part of my brain devoted to conspiracy theory along with another part of my brain devoted to marketing collaborated and concocted a crazy theory.
What if both these stories were purposely released as part of some information campaign to prepare the general public for the knowledge that aliens actually exist? This theory is based upon the idea that the U.S. government (or some other organization) has indisputable proof of the existence of aliens. If the U.S. government is going public regarding the actual existence of aliens, these two stories are a great starting point. If I were to design a slow information campaign to ease the general public’s fear about aliens, this is exactly how I’d start. Start with small news stories to expose people to the concept. Then you follow these up with stories encouraging tolerance towards aliens. Finally this would lead to the big reveal that evidence exists that aliens are real, or that human beings have already had first contact with aliens.
Here are the news stories I referred to:
UFOs eyed nukes, ex-Air Force personnel say
Seven former U.S. Air Force personnel gathered in Washington Monday, September 27 to recount UFO sightings over nuclear weapons facilities in decades past – accounts that a UFO researcher says show extraterrestrial beings are interested in the world’s nuclear arms race and may be sending humans a message.

Astronomers: Newly discovered planet may be able to support life
Astronomers have discovered a new planet that just may be able to support life in a nearby solar system a mere 20 light years from Earth. It’s called Gliese 581g and is located in the constellation Libra. According to a research that is set to be published in the Astrophysical Journal, the planet is “squarely in the middle of the habitable zone of the star” which offers a very compelling case for a potentially habitable planet around a very nearby star.

What do you think? While I’m not actually sold on this conspiracy theory, it did cross my mind.
Dude. I wouldn’t be surprised if you disappeared now because of your thoughts here. Remember, I watched The X-Files and I know how these things work. Hopefully, since I just stated this publicly saved you the hassle and they won’t come get you to silence you.
Uhh…I just realized, now that I did this for you I’m probably the one that will disappear. Oh crap.
The truth is out there.
I say what I always say when I see stories like this. If those aliens are smart they will stay away from us. If they have anything we like we will fuck them over for it sure as shit. If they taste like chicken they are really screwed. We can’t be counted on to be reasonable.
The comments section in the first video is the most entertaining part of the story. There’s a whole lot of crazy in there.
If aliens and/or government agents come take you away, I’m totally calling dibs on your comic collection. ;P
The problem with conspiracy theories is that they can never be disproved. No matter what the government may or may not say in resposne to these retired Air Force personnel, people who have already made up their minds that the government is lying will not be convinced. “See,” they’ll say, “that just proves they’re hiding something!” I have nothing but respect for the service anyone renders to our country in the armed forces; however, I am very skeptical of the story that extraterrestrial UFOs have been covered up for decades. Eyewitness testimony is inherently unreliable (although admittedly, sometimes the only or best thing we have to go on), human memory plays tricks on us, and so far they have presented no real evidence to back up their claims. We’ll wait and see, but I suspect there is not much more to this story.
The planet in the Goldilocks zone, on the other hand, is scientifically verifiable (its existence, I mean — not that it does or does not have life; until and unless we develop warp capability , the best we can say is, “Yes, there’s a planet at the right distance from its star for the potential to support life) and very cool. 🙂
Hey Shag,
Maybe you need a story that will bring out the true believer in you again… Check out what Seattle and the good folks at the Make a Wish Foundation did recently to fulfil one kid’s wish.

If the government knew for certain that aliens were visiting Earth, NASA would have no budget problems whatsoever.
Not only can that planet sustain life and not only are there aliens, but WE”RE BEING INVADED!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
One sceond though. Why would we run for the hills?
