Doctor Who

Doctor Who Anime

FACT: I’m not really a fan of anime.  I enjoyed Record of Lodoss War, but not much beyond that.

FACT: I typically avoid anime whenever possible.

FACT: I cringed when I first heard about this Doctor Who anime project.

FACT: Paul “Otaking” Johnson wrote, drew, and animated this unofficial montage video.

FACT: The video features the third Doctor running around Tokyo, battling thugs, hanging with the Brigadier, meeting some anime girls (no idea who they are supposed to be), sword fighting the Master on top of the Tokyo Tower, and then a battle between the Daleks and Cybermen.

FACT: I watched this video.

FACT: This video is full of awesome.  You should watch it.

My thanks to Scott C of THE UNIQUE GEEK who pointed me to this.  You can read more about it at Japanator.

  1. So, so, so many layers of awesome there! These days I can only stomach my anime in small doses – but I’d quite gladly sit through a Doctor Who anime film if it was all as good as that. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thanks for sharing this. I loved it and think that the Tom Baker Doctor would translate well to anime too. Imagine all the elements used for Vampire Hunter D – the hat, the long flowing scarf, the flapping trench coat -AND- he would have K-9…anime is all about mechs big and small. Think about it 😛

  3. while it is awesome and the art is amazing, tha animation itself seems very awkward and needs to be worked on. perhaps a comic would be better suited for him? either way, hopefully the animation is better when it’s finished :] I’d love to see the finished product.
