I finally got around to visiting the comic shop this past weekend after nearly a month away. Awaiting me were my Blackest Night Green Lantern rings! I’m probably the millionth geek to relive this moment, but here it is anyway… my tribute to Green Lantern #49 (1994).

Here are some sweatpants I picked up back in 1995. I really like the novelty of having “Property of Starfleet Academy Athletic Department” printed on them. Most people don’t even notice what is printed on the sweatpants because so many schools print “Property of … Athletic Department” on their clothes. Also, if you enjoy Starfleet […]

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you geeks here in the United States! For my international readers… sorry, our country is closed today for parade watching, massive turkey consumption, and tryptophan-induced comas. Come back tomorrow for the craziest shopping day of the year.

This Pixar parody is good stuff. Enjoy! See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor. Found originally on College Humor.

I’ve appeared on several podcasts in the past few months, but have been horribly negligent about giving them a shout-out here. These were all podcasts hosted by my good buddy Michael Bailey (of Views from the Longbox and From Crisis to Crisis). He’s been kind enough to invite me to participate a number of times, […]

This hilarious comic comes from Ryan Dunlavey’s Comic strip mashups. Thanks to Cary from THE UNIQUE GEEK listserv for bringing this cartoon to my attention.

After more than a decade in the attic, we decided to give the old Star Trek: The Next Generation collectible card game a try. Ed’s in town this weekend (pictured below in his “Nerd Herd” t-shirt from the TV series Chuck) and he decided we should tackle the game again after all these years. After […]

Great weekend coming up! Lots of folks coming into town, including Ed, Serv, and Lore (the irredeemable brother). In case you are wondering, the random picture above represents things we’ll probably get up to this weekend. The new Star Trek DVD will most likely be watched (love the Enterprise shaped DVD case). Lore and I […]

Check out this advertisement for Star Wars toys available from Kenner. This ad appeared in comic books in late 1979. I owned nearly all of these toys. The only item on this page I didn’t own was the Imperial Troop Transporter (it wasn’t in the film, so I wasn’t interested). Given the amount of Star […]

I can’t make this kind of stuff up. Here is an advertisement for “Cube Lube” that ran in DC Comics cover dated June 1982. Though I understand the intention is innocent, I find it hard to believe this ran in a comic book targeted at children.
